CHARLESTON-AREA NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
Funds from 27th Annual BI-LO Charity Classic Golf Tournament Provide Support for 16 Local Charities
CHARLESTON, S.C. (Nov. 18, 2010) – Today BI-LO Charities donated $123,085 to 16 Charleston-area organizations addressing children’s needs, education and hunger relief in the local community. All funds donated came from the 27th Annual BI-LO Charity Classic held last June in Greenville, S.C.
Charleston-area charities receiving grants from BI-LO Charities include:
- Berkeley Seniors, Inc.
- Children in Crisis in Dorchester County
- Crisis Ministries
- East Cooper Meals on Wheels
- Hope Worldwide South Carolina
- James Island Elementary School
- Lowcountry Food Bank
- Meals on Wheels of Summerville
- MUSC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences
- MUSC Foundations, Children’s Hospital Fund
- Orange Grove Elementary Charter School
- Pet Helpers
- Roscoe Reading Program
- The Dee Norton Lowcountry Children’s Center
- Trident Literacy Association
- United Methodist Relief Center
“The mission of BI-LO Charities is to support the children’s charities, education and hunger relief efforts in every community in which BI-LO operates,” said BI-LO Charities Executive Director Carol Browning. “Our goal is to provide funding for projects that provide meaningful and sustainable change in our communities, and we are honored to partner with organizations that help address critical needs at the local level.”
BI-LO Charity Classic funds were raised through silent and live auctions as well as sponsorships by local business and BI-LO’s generous vendor community.
