“The mission of BI-LO Charities is to support the children’s charities, education and hunger relief efforts in every community in which BI-LO operates,” said BI-LO Charities Executive Director Carol Browning. “Our goal is to provide funding for projects that provide meaningful and sustainable change in our communities, and we are honored to partner with organizations that help address critical needs at the local level.”
BI-LO Charity Classic funds were raised through silent and live auctions as well as sponsorships by local business and BI-LO’s generous vendor community.
“BI-LO has long been committed to being involved in the communities where we do business,” said
BI-LO President and CEO Michael Byars. “Everyday our store teammates demonstrate the power of leading with their head and with their heart.”
BI-LO Charities also honored grant recipient charities that are part of its boostersplus® program. Available to any 501(c)3 organization, boostersplus® gives BI-LO customers an opportunity to earmark 1 percent of their total purchases to the participating charity of their choice. Additionally, in the BI-LO tradition of “savings without sacrifice,” BI-LO also donated the equivalent of a full tank of gas in fuelperks!® rewards to one lucky charity through a drawing from among all non-profit organizations in attendance.
