BI-LO CHARITIES HELPING LOCAL FOOD BANKS FEED
FAMILIES IN NEED WITH ANNUAL HOLIDAY HUNGER RELIEF PROGRAM
GREENVILLE, S.C. (Nov. 18, 2010) – Now through Dec. 28, BI-LO Charities will once again team up with members of the community to provide food donations for local food banks to make the holidays a bit brighter for those in need.
When visiting any BI-LO store during the Holiday Hunger Relief Program, shoppers will have the opportunity to help put food on the table of families in their community by purchasing a box full of groceries for $5.
Every Hunger Relief Box sold in BI-LO stores will be donated to a local food bank, which will distribute the groceries to families in need. Each box is filled with essential, non-perishable food items that are often requested by food banks, including Southern Home® tuna, macaroni and cheese, dry spaghetti, canned pasta sauce, cut green beans and chicken noodle soup. Every $5 Hunger Relief Box contains enough food for at least three full meals.
“Through the Holiday Hunger Relief Program, we can truly make a difference,” said BI-LO Charities Executive Director Carol Browning. “Our partner food banks work to ensure that no family goes hungry over the holidays, but they need our help. We are privileged to have the support of so many of our customers in this effort. When we all work together, even a donation of $5 can make a huge impact.”
