BI-LO CHARITIES DONATES MORE THAN $140,000 TO ASHEVILLE-AREA NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS
Funds from 27th Annual BI-LO Charity Classic Golf Tournament Provide Support for 18 Local Charities
ASHEVILLE, N.C. (Dec. 2, 2010) – Today BI-LO Charities donated $143,027 to 18 Asheville-area organizations addressing children’s needs, education and hunger relief in the local community. All funds donated came from the 27th Annual BI-LO Charity Classic held last June in Greenville, S.C.
Local charities receiving grants from BI-LO Charities include:
- Angel Food Y.U.M.M. (Valdese, N.C.)
- Angel Medical Center (Franklin, N.C.)
- Food for Fairview (Fairview, N.C.)
- Haywood Christian Ministry (Waynesville, N.C.)
- Hearts with Hands, Inc. (Asheville, N.C.)
- Interfaith Assistance Ministry (Hendersonville, N.C.)
- Macon Program for Progress (Franklin, N.C.)
- Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central and Western North Carolina (Asheville, N.C.)
- Meals on Wheels of Asheville and Buncombe County (Asheville, N.C.)
- Mission Hospital Cancer Center (Asheville) $93,642
- Operation Back Pack (Marion, N.C.)
- Operation Hope, Inc. (Landrum, S.C.)
- The Arc of Haywood County (Waynesville, N.C.)
- The Children’s Center of Transylvania County (Brevard, N.C.)
- The Salvation Army Boys and Girls Club of Buncombe County (Asheville, N.C.)
- Thermal Belt Outreach, Inc. (Columbus, N.C.)
- Welcome Table of Black Mountain (Black Mountain, N.C.)
- Yokefellow Service Center, Inc. (Spindale, N.C.)
“The mission of BI-LO Charities is to support the children’s charities, education and hunger relief efforts in every community in which BI-LO operates,” said BI-LO Charities Executive Director Carol Browning. “Our goal is to provide funding for projects that provide meaningful and sustainable change in our communities, and we are honored to partner with organizations that help address critical needs at the local level.”
In addition to funding other non-profits in the area, BI-LO Charities has developed a partnership with Mission Hospital Cancer Center this holiday season. To help Mission Hospital Cancer Center support local families with comprehensive cancer care BI-LO Charities donated $93,642 to the organization.
